Just add Coconut

Today was a lot of fun.  It started with a run along Copacabana Beach.  Mid run, my body kindly asked for an agua de coco (coconut water).  I stopped and grabbed a coconut, not a bottle of water, a coconut.  There is a lot of water inside a coconut and I didn't want to drink it all so I thought I would carry it for the rest of my run.  The arm work out, combined with the concentration it took to keep the water contained was amazing.  Tomorrow I will run with two.

As some of you might know, I was recently reunited with a camera that once belonged to Gui and I.  I asked for suggestions on Facebook as to what my theme should be.  I didn't want to just go out and shoot; remember, I am working on purpose.  The suggestions ranged from bugs, textures, bikes, faces, hands, old cars colors, doors and inspiration.

Now, I loved these suggestions; all of them, and they will be archived for another day (like tomorrow).  I went with inspiration, and I gotta tell ya, it was that damn coconut that gave me a negative split (when you run the second half faster than the first half).  Today the theme was "coconuts."  And here are my first pictures with a DSLR camera.

The GRAND OPENING!

Oh what a lovely bunch!

Sidenotes:  I have been influenced by coconut before (I am just remembering).

When I lived in Japan, I once went to a rave.  I ended up on a beach with a bunch of people and I invented a game.  We put a coconut in the middle and we all surrounded it from a distance of about 5 meters (15ft ... you know who you are).  I called someone's name, and we both made way for the coconut.  No holds barred.  It was like UFC.  Whoever brought it back to their initial spot got to call the next person's name.  There were about 60 people in the circle by the end!

When I lived in Thailand there was a big storm and hundreds of coconuts washed up on shore.  We couldn't even dive because of the amount of coconuts in the water.  That week we played the coconut Olympics.  It's amazing what you can do with a coconut.

I might start bringing one everywhere!
